Apple launched the original iPad back in 2010, and since then the iPad is regarded as the best device in its category. Since 2010, the device has gone through many changes, and now Apple has released the 2017 iPad 9.7. The Apple iPad 9.7 is the successor to the Apple iPad Air 2. The device is now a tad heavier and also thicker at 469 grammes and 7.5mm, whereas the length and the breadth of the device remain unchanged at 240mm and 169.5mm respectively.
4:3 Display
Unlike the traditional 16:9 displays, the new iPad comes with a 4:3 ratio display that facilitates in a magazine-like view while using the device. The display has a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels that results in a pixel density of 264 PPI. The display on the new iPad carries over the same scratch-resistant glass, an oleophobic coating from its predecessor.
Apple A9 Chipset
Gone is the triple-core Apple A8X chipset in favour of the new dual-core Apple A9 chipset. In spite of having lesser core count, Apple promises better performance and increased efficiency with its new chipset. The Apple A9 chipset incorporates PowerVR GT7600 GPU and 1.84GHz dual-core Twister CPU. As for the RAM, the new iPad still uses a 2GB unit.
Storage, Battery, & Connectivity
The Apple iPad 9.7 2017 comes with 32GB of onboard non-expandable storage. There is also a 128GB storage variant for users with higher memory requirements. The new Apple iPad is now equipped with an increased battery capacity of 8,610 mAh for longer battery backup. The device is available in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + cellular variants.
