HTC Desire 816G Dual SIM Details

Unlike HTC s One lineup of devices, the Desire series of smartphones are catered towards buyers who want value-for-money devices. The HTC Desire 816G Dual SIM is a variant of the Desire 816 that has a MediaTek processor instead of a Qualcomm one. It is a mid-range phablet with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display, Android 4.4 KitKat, 1.7GHz octa-core processor from MediaTek, 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, microSD card compatibility, and 2,600 mAh battery. A 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera have been provided for capturing images and videos.
The Desire 816G looks exactly similar to the Desire 816 as the only changes are in the inside. Glossy plastic is widely used in making the exteriors of this device. There s black bezel around the display, and dual stereo speakers are present above and below the display. HTC has gotten rid of physical as well as capacitive buttons for the Desire 816G, and went with on-screen navigational keys. The power button and the volume rocker is present on the left hand side of the display. The microSD card slot and the SIM card slot are hidden beneath a plastic flap that is present on the right hand side of the device. The data transfer port and the headphone jack are placed on the bottom and top respectively. There s a huge HTC logo at the non-removable back along with the camera lens and an LED flash. The device is 156.6 mm tall, 78.7 mm wide, 8 mm thick, and weighs a hefty 158 grams. This smartphone is available only in two colours; black and white.
The 5.5-inch Super LCD2 display has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a resulting pixel density of around 267 pixels per square inch. It is not cover by protective layer, so it is better that you be careful with the screen. The display has wide viewing angles and low reflectivity, but the brightness is low and the sharpness isn t as good as some of its competitors. A 13-megapixel primary camera uses an excellent Sony IMX214 camera sensor that has a size of 1/3.06 inch, an aspect ratio of 4:3, and an aperture of F/2.2. It has an autofocus lens, LED flash, and 1080p video recording. Slow-motion videos can be recoded in 720p resolution at 60 frames per second. The front-facing camera has a resolution of 5-megapixel, enough to click good selfies. What s remarkable is that even the front-facing camera can record 1080p videos at a speed of 30fps.
The whole processing task is carried out by a MediaTek MT6592 SoC, which is a good solution for mid-range smartphones. It uses eight power-efficient ARM Cortex-A7 CPU cores clocked at 1.7GHz, Mali-450MP4 GPU clocked at 700MHz, audio processing chip, and multiple connectivity solutions. Adreno 305 GPU is good enough for gaming, but don t expect the latest high-graphic requirement games to run consistently without frame drops. There s accelerometer, ambient-light sensor, electronic compass, and a proximity sensor.
Android 4.4 KitKat comes pre-loaded with the device and HTC Sense UI 6.0 on top of it. HTC is known for making great software, at least in the phones released after the year 2013. The company has even promised to provide Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the device. Connectivity wide, the Desire 816G supports using two SIM cards at once so that you can keep your personal and work life separate. A 2,600 mAh battery used in this devices generally lasts complete day, and the company is promising up to 460 hours of standby time and up to 10 hours of talk-time when connected to a 3G network.
