The Huawei P Smart Z is a fairly large phone and comes with a 6.59-inch LTPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels in the 19.5:9 aspect ratio and offers a screen-to-body ratio of 84.3 percent. The handset also ends up with a fairly sharp PPI density of 391. As the case is with most Huawei devices, the Huawei P Smart Z uses the company s own HiSilicon Kirin 710F SoC. This chipset houses an octa-core processor that houses four Cortex-A73 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores. The graphics department is handled by the Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. The phone also supports GPU Turbo 3.0 that claims to improve the gaming experience on the handset. The Huawei P Smart Z comes in a single 4GB+64GB version with a microSD card slot for additional memory.

The highlight feature of the Huawei P Smart Z is its front-facing camera which is houses inside a pop-up mechanism. This front camera uses a 16-megapixel sensor with support for several AI modes. At the rear, the phone gets a dual-camera setup consisting of a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel secondary camera that acts as a depth sensor. The handset supports video recording using both the front and rear cameras and can capture full HD videos.

The Huawei P Smart Z comes with comprehensive connectivity options that include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and A-GPS. The handset also supports 4G VoLTE networks and supports dual-SIM cards. For wired connectivity, the handset gets a USB Type-C port as well as a 3.5mm audio jack for connecting wired headphones. The Huawei P Smart Z is a fairly heavy handset that weighs 198 grams. The handset is offered in three color options; Emerald Green, Midnight Black, and Sapphire Blue.
