Intex Aqua I15 Details

Intex has made a name for itself as one of the outliers among the Indian manufacturers. Its wares don t sell as much as that of Micromax, Karbonn and Lava, but the sheer amount of interest in the entry-level segment means that Intex s Aqua series has carved out a niche for itself among buyers.
With the Aqua i15, Intex is squarely targeting the phablet segment. Boasting a 6-inch screen, the device is ideally suited for those looking to consume videos on the go. However, one drawback is the quality of the screen, which at qHD (960 x 540) isn t anything to write home about. Under the hood, there s a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor, backed by 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage.
There is a microSD slot available that allows you to extend storage by 32GB. While Intex s motives in designing the i15 are clear in that the vendor was targeting a lucrative segment, the execution was is far from ideal. 512MB RAM is a dealbreaker seeing as how even entry-level devices these days offer 1GB RAM as standard.
Other hardware features on offer include an 8MP camera at the back, 2MP front shooter, 3G connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 2,400mAh battery. The device runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, and is unlikely to get the update to Android 4.4 KitKat, let alone Android 5.0.
The low amount of memory combined with the mediocre resolution on a device with a 6-inch screen means that the Aqua i15 isn t going to be anywhere near as successful as other models in the series. The handset would have been far better if it featured an HD screen, along with 1GB RAM and a slightly larger battery. That notwithstanding, we suggest you look at Micromax s Canvas Doodle 4, which offers far more in terms of features and comes in a similar 6-inch form factor.
