LYF Wind 5

The LYF Wind 5 is an entry level device with basic hardware. The device is a cut-down version of the LYF Wind 7. This LYF Wind 5 is among the very few devices that come with a two-year warranty. The design of the LYF Wind 5 is very basic; it does not come with any chrome garnish or those distinguishable paint jobs, its just plain and simple. The front of the device has a selfie camera on the top that sits on the left side of the earpiece and the remaining area is covered with glass. The rear of the device, however, comes with patterned design to provide a comfortable grip. The device measures 144.6 x 72.8 x 8.45mm and weighs 137 grams.

Even though the LYF Wind 5 is an entry-level device, it does come with a generous 5-inch HD display and offers IPS technology with it. There is also an 8-megapixel autofocus camera equipped with LED flash on board for primary photography while the secondary camera is a 5-megapixel shooter. One can take beautiful selfies and images with both the cameras.

The software experience is not that great as the device is loaded with the outdated version of the Android, the 5.1 Lollipop. But to give the OS a new look, the LYF mobiles have made little appearance changes all over the user interface. The performance is driven by a 64-bit MediaTek MT6735P SoC (System-on-chip). The chipset includes four Cortex-A53 cores with a frequency of 1.0GHz. The hardware also includes 1GB of RAM. The device only comes in one storage option which is with 8GB of internal memory. The less capacity internal memory is aided with an option to expand it through a microSD card slot.

The hardware is powered by a low capacity 2,000 mAh battery. Users with heavy usage should make sure that they carry a power bank with them always. The plus side of the device is its sheer connectivity option. The LYF Wind 5 is a dual-SIM 4G enabled smartphone with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, microUSB port for charging and GPS to facilitate the navigation and location services.
