Motorola Moto E 2020

Motorola has a rich legacy as a smartphone company and its contributions to the evolution of cellphone technology is humongous. The once-American company was the first to launch a commercial cellular phone, in 1983. In the 2000s, the company was sold off to Google, and a couple of years later, it was stripped off all its patents and sold off to Chinese electronics giant Lenovo. But Lenovo has done a good job of reviving Motorola as we can see a wide variety of devices today that are competing with the best options in the smartphone market. For example, the Motorola E or Moto E series is one of the most popular collections of phones that Motorola sells globally and what we have with us today is the 2020 version of the Moto E, which was launched in 2014 and was incredibly popular at the time. The 2020 variant however is quite juiced up in comparison to the original, even though it is just an entry level smartphone. The Motorola Moto E (2020) features a 6.2-inch IPS LCD screen that offers an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels and has a 19:9 screen aspect ratio. This smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 632 chipset and comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space and runs Android 10 as its OS. You get a 13MP + 2MP dual camera in the back and a tiny 5MP front facing camera. The Moto E (2020) comes equipped with a capacity of 3550mAh in its cell and there’s no support for fast charging. Some of the popular Motorola mobile phones include the Motorola Razr 2019, Motorola Fusion Plus, and the Motorola Edge.

6.8
out of 10
MSP SCORE
  • Good Stuff
  • Affordable price tag
  • Bloatware-free, stock Android UI
  • Bad Stuff
  • Slow processor, only 2GB RAM option
  • HD+ resolution is inadequate for the screen size
  • Unimpressive front and rear cameras
  • No USB Type-C port
Verdict
The only upside of the Moto E is that it is light on pocket and that it comes with the best software experience in its segment. For the same price, however, you can get smartphones that offer better display, cameras, processing power, battery backup, and connectivity options. Unless getting a phone with stock Android UI is your first preference, you should look at other phones in the market.
