OnePlus 8T

As any self respecting fan of OnePlus knows, the company launches phones twice a year. Once, for the main version and the second six months after, for the ‘T’ variant. While the first event is far more exciting thanks to new features and innovation, smarter users prefer to wait for the second version as this is usually the one with all the kinks ironed out. After the grand success of the OnePlus 8 Pro and the OnePlus 8, it is now time for the OnePlus 8T to be unveiled. And as expected, it is quite similar to the OnePlus 8 with a few tweaks here and there. The new phone comes with a Fluid AMOLED display marginally bumped up to 6.67 inches and offering a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels at a density of 402 ppi and sporting a punch hole in the same corner. Handling the processing requirements and keeping up the zippy-ness of the OnePlus flagship is the Snapdragon 865 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard disk space. The phone runs OxygenOS as a custom skin over Android 10. On the back of the OnePlus 8T, you get a sensor trio that does the job and more, with a 48MP primary sensor, a 16MP ultrawide deputy camera, and an 8MP telephoto sensor, which is a welcome addition. On the front you have a 20MP sensor on selfie and video call duties. The OnePlus 8T comes with a massive 4500mAh cell and it features 30W WARP charging as well which is lightning fast at getting your battery levels back up. Some of the popular OnePlus mobile phones include the OnePlus 8 Pro, the  OnePlus 8, the OnePlus 9and the OnePlus Billie.

Verdict
The OnePlus 8T is a premium mid-ranger from the company. It does pack exciting features such as a 120 Hz screen refresh rate and Warp 65W fast charging support. The device runs Oxygen 11 OS that accounts for an excellent smartphone experience. The phone is let down by average camera performance, and it also does not support wireless charging. The pricing is slightly on the expensive front; there are other available alternatives such as Samsung S20FE and Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro at a lesser price.

OnePlus 8T Details

90Hz Refresh Rate, 6.67 Inch AMOLED Screen, HDR10+
The 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED display on the 8T is reinforced with Gorilla Glass 6. Like its predecessor, it features an integrated fingerprint sensor and features a punch-hole for the 20MP front camera. The 90Hz screen is HDR10+ certified and you get a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels at a density of 402 ppi.

8GB RAM, Snapdragon 865, Rear Triple Camera
Performance on OnePlus devices has always been its hallmark, and the tradition continues with the 8T as it has the Snapdragon 865 chipset running under the hood of the OnePlus 8T, along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. Graphics are managed by the Adreno 650 graphics unit on board the SoC. The phone runs on the super smooth and ultra fast OxygenOS 10, which offers Android 10 currently but will get bumped up to Android 11 soon enough. You can take some crisp photos with the primary 48MP camera on the phone’s triple sensor setup. You can also shoot ultra wide shots on the 16MP secondary cam or zoom in thanks to the 8MP telephoto lens. The rear camera can record 4K at 60 frames per second while the 20MP snapper on the front is restricted to full HD video recording.
4500mAh Battery, 30W WARP Charging, Connectivity Options
The OnePlus 8T comes with a 4500mAh battery which is great as it’s big enough to last typical users a full day, and the good news is that it  also supports the proprietary 30W WARP charging which has to be experienced to be believed. You get a USB 3.1 Type C port for charging but no 3.5mm port for headphones. Connectivity-wise you get Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, A2DP, LE, Bluetooth 5.1, aptX HD, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, SBAS, and A-GPS.
