  Sony Xperia Z2 is the first in the series of Sony flagship phones. Here is the detailed overview of the device as per the official information.  
Sony Xperia Z2 runs on a powerful 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset based on Krait 400 CPU. It provides a great graphic experience with Adreno 330 GPU. The 3GB RAM is one of the highest in the phone market. It come with 16GB internal memory space which can be expanded further by an additional 128 GB using the in-built MicroSD card slot. The phone will also be equipped with various sensors such as accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, Gyroscope and magnetic field sensor.
Sony Xperia Z2 features a 5.2" full HD Triluminous IPS LCD capacitive touch screen. The screen has a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels giving an effective pixel density of about 432 PPI. It is scratch resistant and shatter proof.
In terms of design, the device will carry the same uni-body looks just like its predecessor, Xperia Z1. However, the Z2 is about 7 grams lighter at 163 Grams and slightly thinner at 8.2 mm. No surprise for guessing, the device is also water-resistant up to 1 meter and 30 minutes. It comes in 3 colours; white, black and purple.
The device has a 20.7 MP camera which an upgrade from the Xperia Z's 13 MP camera. It has a 1/2.3 inch CMOS camera sensor with autofocus enabled, Sony G Lens and an aperture of F/2.0. There is an LED flash to make low light photography better. The camera can record 4K videos at 30 FPS, thanks to its BIONZ image processor and Snapdragon 801 SoC. In terms of additional camera features, it comes loaded with Sony's Info Eye technology that can identify various things like books, products, travel places, etc. Users can also record video while streaming it live to their family and friends using Facebook, where the viewers of the video can comment in live mode.
The device also has a 2.2 MP secondary front facing camera that could be used for video calling and snapping self-portraits. The secondary camera in the device is capable of recording videos in full HD (1080p) format @ 30 FPS.
Coming to multimedia capability, there are stereo speakers on the device along with an ability to play all the common multimedia files which are being used these days such as MP3, MP4, WMA, WMV, DivX, XviD, FLAC and more.
This device comes pre-loaded with Android v4.4 KitKat operating system along with Sony's custom UI skin which is said to be very minimalistic and lacks gimmicky features found in Samsung's TouchWiz UI. It comes with elegant looking and attractive widgets, wallpapers and ring-tones. It also comes with very popular Walkman music player, Play Memories, Google Play Store, Google Play Games, Google Play Movies and Google Play Books. It also has Stamina Mode which saves power by switching off unnecessary features from the phone when it needs endurance.
The phone packs a large 3200 mAh battery which is slightly larger than the one used in Sony Xperia Z1 so it is expected to provide talk-time of about 24 hours, video watching for more than 12 hours, web browsing of more than 12 hours on both 3G and Wi-Fi.
Sony Xperia Z2 comes with a full suite of connectivity features such as 4G LTE Cat4 (150 Mbps HSDPA & 50 Mbps HSUPA), Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/a/b/gn, Bluetooth v4.0, micro-USB v2.0, NFC, USB on the go, etc. There is also a 3.5 mm audio jack to connect the headphones and speakers. The MHL enabled MicroUSB port can connect to devices like LCD Televisions and display whatever is present on the screen of the phone while charging Sony Xperia Z2 at the same time. The phone supports connectivity protocols such as Android Beam, Miracast, Wi-Fi Direct, MSC, MTP and Mass Storage.
