Tecno Spark 5 Air

Tecno Mobile is a Hong Kong-based mobile phone manufacturer that does business in emerging markets like Africa and South Asia. It is a subsidiary of Transsion Holdings, which also manufactures the Itel brand of smartphones. Tecno built its business by focusing on Africa in its growing years, and then coming to India to do business 206 onwards, when we saw companies like Xiaomi, Realme and Oppo and Vivo revolutionize the budget segment of the mobile phone market. The company has managed to find a foothold despite such aggressive Chinese competition. Tecno Mobile recently launched the Tecno Spark 5, and now it is time to take the covers of its variant — the Tecno Spark 5 Air, which is very similar to the Spark 5 in specs. This new phone comes with a massive 7 inch IPS LCD screen which is also its USP. The screen  offers an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels at 256 ppi. The Helio A22 chipset inside the Spark 5 Air takes care of processing tasks and the phone also packs 2GB of RAM with 32GB of onboard memory. The phone has a microSD card slot so you have the option of adding up to 128GB of expandable memory. The Spark 5 Air comes with a 13MP camera on the back and an 8MP selfie snapper on the front so it’s not exactly great for photography. The battery has a capacity of 5000mAh, and that is sure to attract some buyers. Some of the popular Tecno mobile phones include the Tecno Spark Power, Tecno Spark 5, and the Tecno Camon 15 Pro.

Verdict
If you are looking for an entry-level smartphone with the largest display in the market, the Tecno Spark 5 Air is your answer. However, that is the only good thing about it. None of the other features of the device are worthy of its price.

Tecno Spark 5 Air Details

7.0 inch LCD Display, Water Drop Notch
The display on the Tecno Spark 5 Air is a large 7-inch IPS LCD panel and this is great for viewers who primarily use their phone to watch content. Unfortunately the screen is restricted to HD+ resolution as it offers just 720 x 1640 pixels at an aspect ratio of almost 21:9. You get a pixel density of 256 ppi. The display has a water drop notch at the top for the front camera.
Helio A22 Chipset, Single Rear Camera
The Tecno Spark 5 Air comes with a Helio A22 chipset, just like the Tecno Spark 5. The Helio A22 from MediaTek is a budget SoC that is sufficient for users who only use their phone for very basic functions. The chipset has a PowerVR GE8300 GPU for graphics intensive tasks. You get 2GB of RAM paired with 32GB of onboard memory and you can push that to 128GB using the memory card slot. The phone has a 13MP camera on the back and for selfies and video calling, you get an 8MP sensor on the front. The rear camera can shoot 1080p videos. The phone runs on HiOS 6.0, Tecno’s custom Android skin, which is currently at version Android 10.
5000mAh Battery, Connectivity
While you do not get fast charging support, the Spark 5 Air offers a whopping 5000mAh of battery capacity in its cell. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and A-GPS. You get a micro USB port for charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired earphones. A fingerprint sensor is present on the back of the phone.
