While 2020 may not have been a great year overall, one good thing is that we are seeing smartphones appear in the market that are much more powerful than the models from a couple of years ago, and they are far more affordable as well. Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi had a good year in 2019 in terms of sales as well as popularity with the Indian masses. The company clearly plans to be in the lead for this year as it has just taken the covers off its latest offering — the Redmi K30i. As the name indicates, it is the baby of the series replacing the K20 lineup from last year. The device features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset, 6GB of RAM and 28GB of internal memory, and runs MIUI 11. You get a 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel offering a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels at a density of 395 ppi. The camera specs are impressive with a 48MP + 8MP + 5MP + 2MP quad camera setup on the back offering you plenty of flexibility with your photography, plus you have dual 20MP + 2MP setup on the front too. The K30i is the most affordable of the K30 series but it doesn’t scrimp too much on pecs. For selfies, the phone is equipped with a 20MP camera paired with a 2MP depth snapper on the front. You can shoot 4K videos with the rear camera and 1080p videos with the front. Performance-wise, the Redmi K30i should deliver the goods as it features the Snapdragon 765 SoC from Qualcomm. The chipset features the Adreno 620 GPU which is responsible for high quality graphics processing. The phone offers 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The phone runs on MIUI 11, Xiaomi’s custom Android skin.
4500mAh Battery with 30W Fast Charging, Connectivity
The Redmi K30i features a 4500mAh battery which should be good enough for a full day of use. You also get 30W fast charging for times when you run out of juice and need to quickly recharge your phone. Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Infrared, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and A-GPS. There is a USB Type C port plus you get a 3.5mm headphone jack. The fingerprint reader sits on the side of the phone.
