Sony Xperia J Details

The Sony Xperia J is a single-SIM entry-level Android smartphone that the company released sometime after breaking up its joint venture with Ericsson. The Xperia J features a 4.0-inch TFT LCD display, 1GHz single-core processing unit, 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM, microSD card slot, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, and a 1,750 mAh battery. It is equipped with a 5-megapixel primary camera and a VGA secondary camera.
The device features a familiar 2012 Xperia design theme with a large touchscreen display, three capacitive touch buttons beneath it, along with an illuminating LED at the lip of the device. Above the display, there is a front-facing camera, an earpiece, and the company s logo. A faux chrome strip runs around the borders of the device. There s a rear-facing camera, LED flash, a larger logo of the smartphone brand, and a loudspeaker on the back side of the Xperia J that is made up of matte plastic. The power button and the volume control buttons are placed on the right side, while the microUSB port is placed on the left side of the device. There s a microphone and a lanyard at the bottom of the device, and a 3.5 mm audio jack on the top. The device measures 124.3 x 61.2 x 9.2 mm and weighs 124 grams.
The 4.0-inch display has a TFT panel with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and a pixel density of around 245 pixels per inch. The screen has 2-point multitouch capacitive layer over it that allows gestures like pinch to zoom for better user experience. It is covered by Corning s Gorilla Glass that promises protection from minor scratches, bumps, and drops. Sony s Mobile BRAVIA Engine is also used in the Xperia J that promises more colours, better viewing angles, improved contrast, and higher brightness. Sony has equipped this smartphone with a 5-megapixel primary camera sensor that is placed on the back along with autofocus, single-LED flash, and VGA video recording. A VGA secondary camera that is present on the front of the device does the job for basic video calling through Skype and Hangouts.
Underneath the display, the device holds a 1GHz dual core single-core processor from Qualcomm the Snapdragon S1 (MSM7227A) that uses an ARM Cortex A5 CPU. Adreno 200 GPU does all the graphical processing chops, but it isn t that great for gaming, especially on devices with FWVGA screen resolution. There s 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM (only 2GB is available to the end user), and a microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 32GB). Accelerometer, electronic compass, and proximity sensors are present in the device for efficient use of hardware and software. A 1,750 mAh removable battery is supposed to keep the device alive for up to 618 hours in stand-by mode or up to 7 hours and 18 minutes of talk-time when connected to a 3G network.
Sony s Xperia J was released with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich onboard, but the company later updated the device to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The Timescape UI runs on top of the basic operating system that provides better UI and some custom apps to help the user. Sony is also bundling 50GB of free (for a limited time) cloud storage with the device. Data connectivity is take care by 7.2Mbps HSDPA, 5.76Mbps HSUPA, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, DLNA, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and EDR, A-GPS and microUSB v2.0 port. GPRS and EDGE are available as well for people who are using older networks.
