The Coolpad Note 3 is the Coolpad’s first smartphone in India. In order to make a impact at the  launch, Coolpad has equipped the phone with many first-in-class features such as fingerprint scanner and 3GB of RAM. This affordable smartphone has a aluminium-alloy internal frame for robust build quality. On the back, the device has removable panel with smooth finish texture to the plastic panel. The device measures 151 x 77 x 9.3mm and weighs weighs 150 grams. The Coolpad Note 3 is available only in black colour variant.

On the front, the smartphone has a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with a pixel density of 267 PPI.  The Coolpad Note 3 has an amazing 71.7% screen-to-body ratio which makes the device compact enough to hold in one hand. The display performs well in both, outdoor and indoor condition, but the display doesn't has any kind of protection, such as Gorilla Glass. The primary camera on this device is a 13-megapixel sensor, the camera has an f/2.0 aperture to help in low-light conditions which is further aided by LED flash to help in complete darkness. Selfie loving users can be rest assured as there is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with a number of beautification modes. The rear-facing camera can record videos upto full-HD resolution and the selfie camera can record videos at HD resolution.

The Coolpad Note 3 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with CoolUI 6.0 skin on top. The user interface is rather sluggish, not because of the hardware but because of low level of optimisation. The device has not received Android 6.0 Marshmallow yet, and company has not revealed any plans for the upgrade either.  Under the hood, the device has MediaTek MT6753 chipset housing octa-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with Mali-T720MP3 GPU. The multitasking is aided by 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM which is the first in its price range. There is 16GB of internal storage on the device that can be expanded further upto 64GB through microSD card.

The device is backed by a removable 3,000 mAh Li-Ion battery, that can keep the device up and running for a day with light to moderate usage. The connectivity options that tag along with the device include dual-SIM (4G+2G), Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS and microUSB v2.0 port.
