OnePlus 8 Pro

OnePlus has been on a roll recently, launching probably the most popular phones in the Android ecosystem right now. What has worked for the company is top of the line specs at an affordable price. And following the successful OnePlus 7 Pro is the 2020 model, the OnePlus 8 Pro. The phone is equipped with a stunning 6.7-inch fluid AMOLED display which has a resolution of 1440 x 3100 pixels. The HDR10+ certified screen comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 to protect it. The bezel-less 90Hz display has a punch-hole for the front camera, now that the pop-up mechanism is gone. The 8 Pro is equipped with a Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, which is top of the line when it comes to processing power. The rear camera setup gets a small upgrade as well, as it is now a 64MP+16MP+12MP configuration. The battery too has been bumped up to a 4500mAh and comes with Warp Charge for fast charging. Some of the popular OnePlus mobile phones include the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 7T Pro.

OnePlus 8 Pro: Pros & Cons

8.5

MSP SCORE
Pros
The OnePlus 8 Pro has a class-leading display, thanks to its AMOLED technology, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a comparatively less-obstructive punch-hole system. While the rear camera setup is still not up there with that of the flagship smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S20 and the iPhone 11, it does offer stellar image quality and video recording. With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC and the optimized Android 10 OS on board, the OnePlus 8 Pro offers the fastest and the smoothest performance we've seen in any Android smartphone so far. OnePlus has also equipped the 8 Pro with IP68 water and dust resistance and 30W wireless charging to make it a true flagship device.
Cons
The front-facing camera of the OnePlus 8 Pro has a much inferior performance compared to that of the other flagship smartphones in the market. We wish OnePlus had offered autofocus and 4K video recording option in the front camera. The other thing we wish OnePlus had offered was a display with a center punch-hole instead of side-mounted punch-hole.
Verdict
The OnePlus 8 Pro does offer a class-leading display, excellent rear cameras, fast and smooth performance, a long battery backup, fast charging, and a fresh design, but it is too costly for what it offers. For the same price as the OnePlus 8 Pro, you can get an iPhone 11, which, we think is a better device overall.

OnePlus 8 Pro Details

6.7 Inch Fluid AMOLED Display, 90Hz Refresh Rate, Gorilla Glass 6
The OnePlus 8 Pro has many highlights, but the display is definitely right at the top. The stunning 90Hz fluid AMOLED display is immersive and rich in terms of both color and detail. The curved 6.7-inch screen offers a resolution of 1440 x 3100 pixels at a pixel density of 514 ppi. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 6 and has a punch hole for the front camera.
Snapdragon 855+ Processor, Triple Camera Setup
Powering the OnePlus 8 Pro is Qualcomm s most powerful SoC, the octa-core Snapdragon 855 Plus with an Adreno 640 GPU managing the graphics processing. The phone runs on OxygenOS, which is currently offering Android 10. The device is equipped with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.0 onboard memory, with no option of expandable memory. The triple camera setup on the rear offers a 64MP primary camera with a 16MP ultrawide lens and a 12MP telephoto lens for zoomed-in shots. The punch-hole camera on the front is a 24MP selfie shooter that is capable of shooting 1080p video. You can shoot 4K videos at 60 fps and full HD videos at 480 fps with the rear camera.
4500mAh Battery, 30W Warp Charge, Connectivity Options
The OnePlus 8 Pro features a 4500mAh battery which is required as the 90Hz display can burn through your battery pretty quickly. Connectivity-wise, the dual SIM phone comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band Wi-fi support, Bluetooth 5.0, and A-GPS. The phone has a USB Type C port but no 3.5mm headphone jack.
