OnePlus is set to roll out the big bets during the early part of 2021 with the launch of the 9 series. The company has diversified into other price brackets, giving them the room to focus on the premium segment with its flagship brand. Even then, they have three phones to offer this year, and that includes the new OnePlus 9R. This phone boasts a 6.55-inch AMOLED display that offers Full HD+ resolution at 1080x2400 pixels. This brings the pixel density of the screen to 402 PPI. The front display has a punch hole that houses the camera. The new OnePlus phone comes powered by the new octa-core Snapdragon 870 chipset that brings 5G support. It gets paired with 8GB RAM for best raw performance from the hardware. Like other phones from this brand, the 9R supports internal 128GB storage but misses out on memory card slot. The imaging duties on the phone are handled by quad rear camera that consists of 48MP sensor, 16MP sensor, a 5MP sensor and 2MP sensor. While on the front, the phone comes with 16MP selfie camera. OnePlus has packed the 9R with a 4500mAh battery that supports 64W fast charging via USB Type C. Other features on the phone are on-screen fingerprint sensor, headphone jack, and face unlock. Verdict
OnePlus 9R is the India-exclusive device from the new series but its features make it a value-for-money offering. It gets an AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. OnePlus has used the new Snapdragon 870 SoC to power the phone with 8GB RAM. It runs on Android 11-based Oxygen OS and the versatile quad cameras should satisfy most users. The built-in battery supports 65W fast charging. However, you cannot expand storage, and 16MP front camera is average for the price.
