Samsung Galaxy A22 5G

Samsung is keen to upgrade most of its devices to offer 5G connectivity support and this includes the affordable range as well. It does help that Qualcomm has integrated 5G into most of its chipsets now. And that works in favour of the new Galaxy A22 5G smartphone. This phone features a 6.6-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with support for 1080x2400 pixels resolution. The screen gets a notch design that offers pixel density of 399 PPI. The Galaxy A22 5G comes powered by octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset, paired with 6GB RAM that brings 5G network support to the affordable bracket. You get 128GB internal storage that is expandable up to 1TB using the dedicated card slot. For imaging duties, the phone gets a triple rear camera that consists of 48MP sensor, 5MP ultra-wide sensor, and 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the phone gets an 8MP selfie camera that also supports video calls. Samsung has loaded the Galaxy A22 5G with a 5000mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging via USB Type C port. Additional features that you get with the phone include side-mounted fingerprint sensor, face unlock and headphone jack. Other Samsung Galaxy A series phones are Galaxy A31, Galaxy A21s and the Galaxy A12.

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G: Pros & Cons

out of 10
  • Good Stuff
  • 90Hz Super AMOLED display
  • 5G-centric hardware
  • 6GB RAM on board
  • Expandable storage slot
  • Android 11 out of the box
  • Long battery life
  • Bad Stuff
  • Bulky and notch design
  • Average cameras
  • Only 15W fast charging support
Samsung Galaxy A22 5G is an improvement on its 4G variant but still falls short of matching up with its rivals, because it is priced higher than Poco M3 Pro 5G and the Realme 8 5G in the market. You get a 90Hz Super AMOLED display which is a big plus, the 5G-centric Dimensity 700 chipset is reliable for daily use, and you get 6GB RAM with this variant. The battery life will keep you happy. However, the design is dated, cameras are average and only 15W fast charging is not ideal. Unless you do not trust the Chinese brands in the market, get this one. But we suggest you save money and get either Poco M3 Pro 5G or even the 4G-centric Redmi Note 10 phone.

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G Details

AMOLED Display, Design, Security
Samsung has chosen to go with a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display that offers Full HD+ resolution at 1080x2400 pixels. This gives the screen a pixel density of 399 PPI. The 20:9 aspect ratio screen features a notch design at the centre that houses the front camera. The power button and the volume rocker are placed on the right side. For security, you will find the fingerprint sensor built under the power button on the side. You also have the option to login using the software-centric face unlock.
Performance, Storage, Triple Camera
Samsung has gone with MediaTek Dimensity 700 octa-core chipset to power the Galaxy A22 5G. With this chipset you get 5G network support on a budget device. It comes paired with 6GB RAM and offers 128GB internal storage. Samsung One UI version built over Android 11 operating system forms the software genesis on his device. The phone has a triple rear camera that consists of 48MP primary sensor, 5MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and 2MP depth sensor. The front of the phone has an 8MP camera that lets you click selfies, shoot videos and take video calls.
Battery, Fast Charging, Connectivity
Samsung has packed all these features into the phone but the 5,000mAh battery might fall short of the performance demands and 5G network support. It supports fast charging via USB Type C port for quick boot up. Connectivity features available with the device are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 5G, 4G VoLTE and GPS with GLONASS.
