Xiaomi has upgraded its Redmi and Redmi Note lineup in the country and now it’s time for new budget phones that form part of the existing Redmi 9 series with the launch of the new Redmi 9i Sport. The new budget Redmi Sport phone comes with a 6.53-inch HD+ display that supports 720x1600 pixels resolution. The screen gets a waterdrop notch where you have the selfie camera, and offers pixel density of 269 PPI. The Redmi 9i Sport uses MediaTek Helio G25 octa-core chipset, paired with 4GB RAM and offers 64GB internal storage which is further expandable up to 512GB using the dedicated card slot. The phone comes equipped with a 13MP rear camera and on the front it gets a 5MP selfie camera. Redmi 9i Sport packs a 5000mAh battery that supports charging via microUSB port. Other features on the phone are splash resistant, face unlock, headphone jack and Infrared. Verdict
Redmi 9i Sport is a basic smartphone that helps people upgrade from a feature phone. It features a large 6.53-inch display, offers long backup and comes with 4GB which is decent for the price. However, the performance is not very good, cameras are basic and you get microUSB 2.0 port for charging. Only worth getting if you need a basic phone on a budget.

The device weighs 194 grams and comes with thickness of 9mm. The power button and the volume rocker are on the right side of the phone. For security purpose, this phone has face unlock that works through the selfie camera.
