Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, is quite active in the smartphone with a slew of new offerings now and then. The brand is certainly far behind in the tablet segment and hasn't had any new releases since 2018. The wait is now over! The brand has come up with the new Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 tablet that marks the company's come back to the tablet segment. In terms of specifications, the new Mi Pad 5 features an 11-inches IPS LCD that offers a screen resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels and 312 ppi pixel density. The Mi Pad 5 comes powered by the MediaTek Dimmensity 1200 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking the device. The imaging duties are handled by the dual-rear camera setup featuring a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP depth camera. For storage, the tablet packs 64GB of non-expandable internal memory. Upfront, the device equips a 5MP selfie camera. Fueling the device is a massive 8000mAh battery that supports fast charging via a USB Type-C port. The tablet runs Android v11 based MIUI.

Design and Display
The Mi Pad 5 comes equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for secure biometric authentication. The tablet has a large 11.0-inches IPS LCD that offers a screen resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels and 312ppi pixel density. 
Camera and Security
On the optical front, the new tablet from Xiaomi houses a dual-rear camera setup with an LED flash. The camera configuration includes a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP depth camera. The other camera features of the device include the Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face Detection and Touch to Focus. For selfies and video calls, there is a 5MP camera at the front. For secure biometric authentication, the tablet features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. 
 
Storage and Performance
In terms of storage, the Mi Pad 5 gets 64GB internal memory which is certainly on the lower side. And also, with no support for expandable memory, users have to contend with the inbuilt memory. The tablet comes powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 octa-core chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM. A Mali-G77 MC9 takes care of the graphical performance of the tablet. 
 
Battery and Conectivity
As for the power backup, the new tablet from Xiaomi comes loaded with a massive 8000mAh battery. The battery offers enough juice to last for more than a day's usage on a single charge. Plus, with fast-charging support, the tablet can be refilled quickly without any hassle. Connectivity-wise, the Mi Pad 5 supports Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n, Bluetooth v5.0, mass storage device, USB charging and a 3.5mm audio jack. The tablet does not include support for voice calls.
