The Asus 6Z is the first phone from the brand to feature a completely bezel-less display. There is no notch up top as the cameras have been situated in a flip mechanism. The front of the phone has a 6.4-inch IPS LCD panel which Asus likes to call its NanoEdge display. This screen gets a Full HD+ resolution with a 403 pixel density, 600nits peak brightness, HDR 10 support, 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. This phone is quite sensibly priced considering it runs on the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC from Qualcomm. This chipset has been paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of storage. And if that was not enough, you get the option to add 1TB of additional storage with a microSD card that fits in a dedicated card slot.

This is one of the few times we have seen a phone that uses the same cameras for both rear and selfie photography. A flip mechanism allows the 48MP + 13MP camera setup to be used for this very purpose. The primary camera here is a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, while the second is a 13MP ultrawide angle camera. Here you have support for both PDAF and Laser Autofocus along with EIS. Video recording on this phone can go as high as 4K resolution with 60fps. From Asus’s demonstrations, it does look like the flip mechanism is reasonably sturdy and can stand a fair bit of physical abuse. There is even a feature where the phone retracts the camera back inside if it detects a fall.

The battery on the Asus 6Z measures in at 5000mAh, making this the only flagship to offer such a setup. Furthermore, charging takes place over a USB Type-C port with lightning fast charging times thanks to the support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 technology. For connectivity, this phone offers Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, A-GPS, GLONASS< BDS, GALILEA, FM Radio, and aptX HD. Asus also managed to provide a 3.5mm headphone jack on this phone with DTS:X audio support. The company also bundles a pair of Hi-Res Audio certified dual-driver in-ear canal earphones made by 1More.
