Huawei Nova 5i

The Huawei Nova 5i is the most affordable of the four Nova 5 smartphones launched by the Chinese phone maker. Surprisingly, Huawei managed to equip this phone with a punch-hole selfie camera, while the more expensive Huawei Nova 5 and Huawei Nova 5 Pro come with waterdrop notches. Furthermore, the phone maker did this with an LCD panel on the Nova 5i, while the other two smartphones feature OLED screens that more easily accommodate such designs. This LCD on the Nova 5i measures 6.4-inches and bears a 1080 x 2310 pixel resolution. It also happens to support the DCI-P3 color space.

Inside the Nova 5i is Huawei s in-house manufactured HiSilicon Kirin 710 chipset. This chipset offers an octa-core CPU where four high-performance cores are clocked at 2.2 GHz, and four power-efficient cores have been clocked at 1.7 GHz. Paired with this chipset is 6GB of RAM and 128 of internal storage. A hybrid dual SIM card slot has been provided to allow storage expansion with the use of a microSD card up to 512GB. As for software, the phone runs Android 9 Pie-based homegrown UI called EMUI 9.1.

At the back of this phone, there is a quad-camera setup that includes a 24MP f/1.8 aperture primary sensor with a wide-angle lens, an 8MP secondary sensor with an ultrawide-angle lens, a 2MP sensor with a wide lens for macro shots, and a 2MP camera for calculating depth information. Housed inside the punch-hole cut out at the front, we have a large 24MP selfie shooter with an f/2.0 aperture that supports 1080p video recording.

A rather large 4,000mAh battery powers the Huawei Nova 5i. This should be sufficient to make the phone last well over a day on a single charge. This battery supports 10W fast charging over a USB Type-C port. Other connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
