Sony Xperia L runs on 1 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 Plus processor and Adreno 305 GPU. It has 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 32 GB using the microSD card slot present on the device. It also has accelerometer, proximity and compass sensors. The device has a 4.3-inch TFT capacitive screen with 540 x 960 pixels resolution that gives an effective pixel density of about 228 PPI. It is multi touch up to four fingers. It lacks Sony s Bravia engine and Gorilla Glass screen protection.

In terms of design, Sony has repeated the design that is common in the Xperia series. The Sony Xperia L is an elegant looking device has a steel frame around it that looks seamless. The Xperia L has a curved back which makes it easier to hold. It comes in white, black and red. It weighs 137 grams and measures 9.7 mm around its waist.

Sony Xperia L runs on Android v4.1 (Jelly Bean) which is upgradable up to v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), which has Xperia UI on top of it. The phone has the common messaging features such as SMS, MMS, IM and push mail. The phone has all the common android apps and software features Google Chrome, Google Play, Google Voice Search and Google Maps.
