Sony Xperia X Dual

The Xperia X Dual is a premium device in the 2016 line-up of Sony devices. At the front, the device has a 2.5D glass that provides a slight curvature around the edges of this Xperia device, while the rear of the device has a unique frosted metal finish. The display is surrounded by thick bezels resulting in the overall dimensions of 142.7 x 69.4 x 7.9mm. The device weighs 153 grammes making it slightly heavy for a device of this size. The Xperia X Dual is available in Grey, Gold, White and Yellow.

The viewing experience on this device is handled by a 5-inch Full HD (1920x1080) Triluminos display with Sony’s X-Reality Engine to reproduce vibrant colours. The pixel density is excellent at 441 PPI. The display has a scratch-resistant glass with an oleophobic coating over it.  Overall the display provides good viewing angles and high brightness that will help in viewing the display comfortably under direct sunlight. The camera department is where the device stands out. The main camera on the device is a 23-megapixel shooter with phase detection autofocus and LED flash; it can capture a large amount of area with its 24mm wide angle lens. The large camera sensor and an aperture of f/2.0 aid the device in low-light photography.  The Sony Xperia X Dual also has one of the best front-facing cameras with its 22mm wide angle 13-megapixel unit having a sensor size of 1/3”. Both, the front and the rear camera on this device can record videos at Full HD resolution, but the latter can go up to 60 frames per second.

The device runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system. The OS is a customised version that has a different theme and added features over the stock Android such as different camera interface and different lock screen interface. The user interface is very smooth without any frame drops. To power the Sony Xperia X Dual, there is a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC. The SoC contains two high-performance Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 1.8GHz and four ultra-efficient Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.4GHz. Gaming and graphics demanding applications are handled by Adreno 510 GPU. There is also 3GB of RAM for smooth multitasking. The internal storage has a capacity of 64GB that can be expanded further up to 256GB via a microSD card.

In terms of battery backup, the Sony Xperia X Dual is backed by a 2,620 mAh Li-Ion battery. The battery carries less amount of power when compared to the other devices that fall in this price range. The device can get you through the day with light to moderate usage. The connectivity options on the Sony Xperia X Dual includes dual-SIM 4G LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.2 with the aptX codec, GPS and a microUSB port for charging.

The Sony Xperia X Dual has a fingerprint scanner in the power button that is placed on the side of the device. It can be used to unlock the device, and it can store up to 5 fingerprints.
