Sony Xperia XZ Premium

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the latest flagship device from the Tokyo-based company. The device comes with a lot of exciting features including the waterproof IP68 design. The design of the device looks like a slab of metal and glass. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium measures 156 x 77 x 7.9 mm and weighs a hefty 195 grammes. The device is available in Luminous Chrome and Deepsea Black variants.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium becomes the world’s first smartphone device to feature a 4K screen with HDR capability. The 4K resolution gives the screen a whopping pixel density of 801 PPI, and the HDR (High Dynamic Range) enables for a better viewing experience. The 5.5-inch display is covered with the Corning’s latest Gorilla Glass 5. The screen incorporates Sony’s Triluminos technology for increased brightness and more vivid colours.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is also the first smartphone device in the world to feature a 960 FPS video recording; this is possible with the newly developed 19MP sensor from Sony. With the help 960 frames per second video, you can see the video at 32 times slower rate. The device can record 4K videos at 30 FPS, and the slow-motion videos are recorded at HD resolution. The 19MP primary camera has phase-detection and laser autofocus technology for faster focusing and an LED flash to aid in low-light conditions. The secondary camera on the Xperia XZ Premium has a jaw-dropping resolution of 13-megapixels. Sadly, there is no autofocus in the secondary camera.

Surprisingly, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium comes with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 835 chipset. The Snapdragon 835 is a beast with regards to processing power, as it defeats every other smartphone processor currently available in the market. The octa-core chipset is mated to 4GB of RAM for unparalleled multitasking.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium uses USB v3.1 Type-C connector for syncing and charging, whereas it retains the 3.5mm jack for audio. As for the wireless connectivity, the Sony Xperia XZ comes with dual-SIM 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi ac/b/g/n, NFC, GPS with GLONASS and BDS.  The 3,230 mAh battery on the Sony Xperia XZ may seem sufficient, but it is a tad smaller when considering the power hungry 4K display. However, it comes with Quick Charge 3.0 for a faster charging without heating up the device.

For an improved multimedia experience, Sony has equipped the Xperia XZ Premium with stereo speakers. The security has also been enhanced with a faster fingerprint scanner. The device has a microSD card slot to expanded the 64GB of internal memory to 256GB.
