Xiaomi Redmi 8A

Unlike its metal-clad predecessor, the Redmi 8A features a polycarbonate body with a glass-like finish. Considering its price, the phone has quite thin bezels. To accommodate a selfie camera, the Redmi 8A has a dot notch display. All the keys such as volume rocker and power button are placed on the right-hand side.

The phone's 6.2-inch LCD screen with a notch has a resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. Since it is an IPS (In-Plane Switching) display, you can expect wide viewing angles compared to a regular LCD. And usually, it comes with usual software tweaks from Xiaomi such as Sunlight mode, Night mode, Reading mode, and hue adjustment.

For the Redmi 8A, Xiaomi relies on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset. It comprises of two Cortex-A53 chips clocked at 2.0 GHz and six Coretex-A53 power-efficient cores running at 1.45 GHz. The gaming part is handled by the Adreno 505 GPU. The phone comes with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. On the software front, you get Android 9 with the latest MIUI 10 on top.

The Redmi 8A is the first handset in this series to feature a dual-camera setup at the back. It has a 12 MP primary sensor with features such as AI Beauty, Low light enhancements, HDR, and Burst mode. It can record Full HD videos at 30 fps. To keep the device's price in check, Xiaomi has opted for a 8 MP front-facing camera.

The Redmi 8A packs in a 5,000 mAh battery, which is a step up from its predecessor's 4,000 mAh capacity. Combined with the power-efficient Snapdragon 439 chip, the phone can easily last over a day on a single charge. However, since the phone lacks any fast charging technology, juicing it up takes a significant amount of time. Moving on to the connectivity front, the phone is equipped with a dated microUSB port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The Redmi 8A is a dual SIM phone with support for 4G. Plus, you get a dedicated microSD card slot. Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and A-GPS (network assisted).
