Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is a flagship phone that features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen with a Quad HD resolution and 577 pixel per inch density, plus Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The USP of the product is its brilliant glass and metal body and two curved edges that we first saw in the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Edge. Since the device has two edges, it is well suited to both left and right-handed users. It also has the Glance Lighting feature that lights up the edge panel upon receiving calls and notifications when the phone is placed screen down. The lighting can be colour-coded by contact, too.

It packs a powerful 64-bit Exynos 7420 chipset with 14nm architecture octa-core CPU that includes a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.1 GHz & another quad-core chipset clocked at 1.5 GHz. It has LPDDR4 RAM and 32 GB internal memory.

As far as the camera is concerned, the Galaxy S6 Edge features a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilisation and an aperture of /1.9. The phone has some advanced imaging options including Auto HDR, 4K video capture and IR white balance detection.

It also has a fingerprint sensor that works on touch rather than swipe-based input, making it more like the Touch ID used by the iPhone 6. It also means that you'll be able to record an entire fingerprint making your device more secure.

In the software department, the Galaxy S6 Edge runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with Samsung's TouchWiz interface on top of it. The improved TouchWiz interface will be stripped off unnecessary bloatware to provide a stock Android like feel.

Connectivity options include dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, LTE Cat 6, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS and an IR blaster. The device also comes with Samsung Pay, a smart wallet service that allows the handsets to act as a credit or debit card when tapped against a shop's NFC chip reader or used to transmit magnetic stripe data. So far, it is only limited to South Korea and the US.

The phone houses a 2,600 mAh battery on board. The S6 Edge has fast charging option that is capable of four hours' power back-up in just 10 minutes apart from built-in wireless charging option.
