Oppo A9 2020

The OPPO A9 2020 sees an upgrade in the SoC department with the handset featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 chipset  as opposed to the MediaTek Helio P70 chipset that was used on the A9 from earlier this year. The SD665 is a minor update to the SD660 chip and is positioned just below the SD675 SoC and is based on an 11nm manufacturing process. It houses four Kryo 260 Silver high-efficiency cores clocked at upto 2 GHz and four Kryo 260 Gold cores clocked at upto 1.8 GHz. For graphics, the OPPO A9 2020 gets the Adreno 610 GPU. The phone comes in two versions a base 4GB+128GB version and a pricier 8GB+128GB variant with both these versions getting a triple slot that can take two SIM cards and one microSD card at the same time. Only the 8GB version is currently available in India. The camera department is where the OPPO A9 2020 sees a major upgrade. The quad camera setup on this phone includes a 48MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, and a secondary 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. Apart from these, the phone also gets a two 2-megapixel sensors dedicated for depth sensing and to aid in portrait effects. At the front, the phone uses the same 16-megapixel sensor with a fixed focus lens; the same setup we saw on the previous A9 model.

The OPPO A9 2020 gets a large 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of  1600 x 720 pixels. The panel supports 16M colors and has a typical contrast ratio of 1500:1. It is also fairly bright with a claimed 480 nits of brightness. One of the highlights of the OPPO A9 2020 is the fact that it gets a dual stereo setup at the top and the bottom, making it one of the few handsets that get stereo speakers in its price segment.

The OPPO A9 2020 comes powered by a large 5,000 mAh battery with support for reverse charging using an additional USB OTG cable. The phone does not support fast charging. As the case is with other OPPO handsets, the A9 2020 runs ColorOS 6 atop an Android 9 Pie core. Connectivity features on the device include support for Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, GPS and A-GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, and micro USB.The phone also sports a 3.5mm audio jack.
