The Realme A1 is powered by Mediatek s powerful Helio P70 chipset that is based on a 12nm manufacturing process. Claimed to be 15% more power efficient when compared to competing 12nm processors, the Helio P70 boasts of an octa-core CPU consisting of Cortex-A73 and A53 cores. The handset comes in multiple versions and RAM options with this variant featuring 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The phone also gets a dedicated microSD card slot for additional memory.

Being a budget handset, the Realme A1 features an IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720x1520 pixels. This panel measures 6.2-inches diagonally and also features a tiny waterdrop notch at the top. Like other Realme and Oppo devices, the Realme A1 comes preloaded with the newest version of ColorOS which is also based on Android 8.1 Oreo. As for the battery, the Realme A1 gets a large 4,000mAh battery that is more than capable of powering the handset through more than one day of relatively heavy usage.

The Realme A1 features a dual camera set up at the rear that includes a primary 13-megapixel sensor mated to a smaller 2-megapixel depth-sensing camera. The phone also gets an LED flash at the rear for low light imaging. Apart from these two cameras, the phone also boasts of a very capable 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The front facing camera features several selfie-centric modes and also features a lot of beautification options.
